5 Step Plan For Progressives

 1.    Educate yourself about the issues

• Find a good news web site for daily use such as the "Center for American progress". Get their news E-mails !
• Listen to and support public radio, public television and Air America Radio.
• Check out Salon.com,The Nation, The New Republic, www.truthout.org, www.alternet.org and www.prospect.org
• Learn how to "frame" progressive issues
• Read "Don't Think of an Elephant" by G. Lakoff
• Watch DVD "How Democrats and Progressives Can Win" (order at www.winwithlanguage.com )
• Keep the election integrity on the "front burner" for the next four years (www.blackboxvoting.org ).

2.    Understand What is First Rate News Coverage and Speak Out When You Don't Get It

• This is the key to having a truthful debate about the issues and it is crucial to our freedom.
• Check out www.factcheck.org , www.mediamatters.org , www.fair.org, and www.spinsanity.com.
• Watch "Outfoxed" video (order from www.outfoxed.org) and share it with others
• Read "All the President's Spin" by Fritz, Keefer and Nyhar

 3.    Support Progressive Organizations

• Not getting involved gives the power to others.
• Support progressive political parties and candidates - local, state and national
• Check out www.truemajority.org, www.moveon.org, www.actforvictory.org,  www.democracyforamerica.com, Sojourners (www.sojo.org) and www.interfaithalliance.org.

 4.    Encourage Others to Become Active in This Long-Term Struggle

• Copy this plan and pass it on to five other people
• Start a local progressive E-mail group of 5-500
• Carry voter-registration forms in your car.

 5.    Stay Positive and Committed

• Speak out with short comments about the truth whenever you hear incorrect spin about the issues.
• If we want opportunities for all, not just the rich and powerful, we must stand up and be counted.
